Would the old maxim "the internet interprets censorship as damage and routes around it" hold true? The news yesterday that Yahoo! supplied vital IP information to Chinese state authorities to convict a Chinese journalist in a case relating to the Tienanmen Square massacre should act as a reminder that these web giants are corporate entities, not safeguards of the internet's democratic power.
